The definition of effectual is producing the intended result. The Bible says the effectual fervent(passionate) prayer of a righteous(right standing with God) person availeth much(James 5:16). Before you pray, know the intended outcome of your prayer. With a pure heart, simply ask in the name of Jesus to the Father in heaven. Then believe it is done according to the Bible which says ask and you will receive(Matthew 7:7).
